HIKING TRAILS IN THE KIMBERLEY
SELF-GUIDED HIKING TRAILS
There’s an extensive range of hiking and walking trails throughout the Wunaamin Miliwundi Ranges, just a short drive from Mount Hart Wilderness Lodge. Explore gorges, waterfalls and creeks at every fitness level.
*Please exercise caution and research each hike extensively before you begin. Be aware that many areas along the Gibb River Road are home to snakes and crocodiles.

MATTHEW GORGE
(DAWUNGUMEN MINDI)
Matthew Gorge is a grade 4 hike. There are plenty of pools to cool off in, however, the most magnificent is the main swimming hole, an hour from the main car park.
2km medium hike.
ANNIE’S CREEK
(MAYAL MINDI)
A pleasant picnic spot with a short hike amongst nature, including an easy creek crossing where you can view a boab tree entwined with a strangler fig.
2.4km easy hike.
East from Mount Hart
LENNARD RIVER GORGE
The red rocks of the gorge provide a stunning backdrop for this 3km hike. The best time to visit is just after wet season as you’ll be awestruck by the spectacular waterfall as it cascades into the gorge below.
3km medium hike.
BELL GORGE (DALMANYI)
A beautiful location for a hike and swim. Embark on a 2km hike to the gorge and back, with an optional 500m rock climb down to the bottom pool for a swim to cool off.
2km easy-medium hike.
ADCOCK GORGE
A picturesque gorge and a truly magical swimming spot. It is a short, uneven 0.6km hike to the gorge. You’ll cross a lily pond and venture over some boulders before reaching the beautiful waterfall and swimming hole.

GALVANS GORGE
Galvan’s Gorge is a relatively easy and great hike for people of most ages and fitness capabilities. Allow a couple of hours to explore and relax while taking in the magnificent landscape.

West from Mount Hart
TUNNEL CREEK (DIMALURRU)
While walking through the 750m tunnel, you’ll travel from one side of the Napier Range to the other, and likely come across a variety of bat and freshwater crocodile species that inhabit the cave.
